Corporate Social Responsibility

AsiaWorld-Expo, upholding the continued commitments to our society, is devoted to social responsibility in our business operations by striving for the prosperity and sustainability of the communities in which we operate and, at all times, respecting the environment which we share.

Caring for the Community

AsiaWorld-Expo is proud to be a proactive member of the community and engages in a wide range of initiatives to support local activities, provide job opportunities, and provide assistance to vulnerable members of society. In 2009, AsiaWorld-Expo was recognised as a “Caring Company” for the second consecutive year. In the same year, it also received an Outstanding Partnership Project Award, the highest honour of its kind, in recognition of its pioneering community work. This dedication to community support is expressed in three key ways: understanding community needs, identifying community partners, and building mutually sustainable relationships.

Fund Raising and Sponsorship

AsiaWorld-Expo actively supports and participates in a wide range of fund-raising activities.

  • Artistes 88 Fund Raising Campaign

In August 2009, The Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild held the Artistes 88 Fund Raising Campaign at AsiaWorld-Arena to support relief and rehabilitation work in Taiwan following the catastrophic flooding of Typhoon Morakot. AsiaWorld-Expo sponsored the venue (AsiaWorld-Arena), all transportation and technical support.

Job and Training Opportunities

  • Since 2008, AsiaWorld-Expo has offered annual placement opportunities to students, who are trained to offer face painting services to members of the public attending shows at the venue.

  • To help the unemployed and ex-offenders reintegrate into the society and to enhance their self-esteem, AsiaWorld-Expo launched the Multi-dimensional Event Services Programme in association with Bright Services, a Social Enterprise of the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong (SRACP) in 2008 to continuously offer training and placement opportunities in porterage and event technical support services. In its first year, the programme generated 537 training opportunities, 528 temporary jobs and 8 permanent jobs.

Caring Programmes

  • In December 2009, AsiaWorld-Expo welcomed over 1,200 seniors living in the Islands district to a banquet organised by the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB) that celebrated the role of the elderly in the society.

  • Prior to Chinese New Year 2010, 2,000 pieces of Chinese rice cakes were distributed to the seniors in Tung Chung and West New Territories in collaboration with various local associations, symbolising the warm blessings of AsiaWorld-Expo to people in need during the festive season.

  • AsiaWorld-Expo was likewise proud to join the Hong Kong Access Guide for Visitors with Disabilities 2009. This important project was designed to help overseas visitors with disabilities or mobility difficulties to travel independently in Hong Kong.
