Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2011 reaches new heights at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong

Taking place in Hong Kong for the third consecutive time, Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2011 opens from 8 – 10 March 2011 at AsiaWorld-Expo.

Officially supported by the China Air Transportation Association (CATA) and the China Civil Airport Association (CCAA), the two most influential industry trade bodies in China, a record number of more than 11,000 trade delegates are pre-registered for Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2011, including 3,500 from China.  Over 1,200 of these Chinese delegates are from the airlines that operate 90% of the nation’s fleet and global airline attendance is expected to significantly exceed the 2009 event figure, where the 100 airlines that were represented operated a total fleet of over 11,000 aircraft, more than half the world’s commercial fleet.

Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2011 is set to be the best ever, with a packed programme of busy exhibition halls and informative conferences, where several hundred exhibitors from all over the world are represented under one roof. The largest exhibitor is Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), manufacturer of the C919 airliner, whilst newcomers to the show include the Mitsubishi Regional Jet from Japan and the Sukhoi Superjet 100 from Russia.  Other major exhibitors include Airbus, Air China Technics, AVIC International, Boeing, Bombardier, Cathay Pacific, CFM international, China Eastern, China Southern Cargo, Dassault, Gulfstream, HAECO and Hawker Beechcraft, among many others

Just on the first show day, Hainan Airline Group of China made a buzz with the collective signing of MoU agreements with three manufacturers – Boeing, Gulfstream and Dassault.  The agreement embraced five Gulfstream G450 and G550 aircraft, five Dassault 7Xs, plus 32 Boeing 787s and six 777 Freighters for HNA Group member Hong Kong Airlines.   This was the second order of the day, following Boeing’s early announcement of five new 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft for Air China, flag carrier of the People’s Republic of China.

Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2011 features a packed programme, including Air Freight Asia 2011, Asia Pacific Airline Training Symposium (APATS 2011), Asian Business Aviation 2011 and Aviation Awards Asia held concurrently.
