Cleaning Contractor at AsiaWorld-Expo confirmed COVID-19 infection

Work areas fully cleaned and sanitised

(25 November 2020 – Hong Kong) AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) has been notified by the cleaning contractor Waihong Services Group that a staff was tested positive for COVID-19 today. The concerned staff worked in AsiaWorld-Expo on 21 and 22 November and was responsible for cleaning services only in Hall 6, during which there is no admission of quarantine person in that 2 days. The staff had worn surgical mask during work and with no direct contact with the mass public. The staff’s working area does not cover Community Treatment Facility and other facilities at AWE, her last reported duty date is on 22 November 2020.

Once confirmed of the contracted COVID-19 case, Waihong Services Group has arranged other staff members who had been in contact with the staff concerned to undergo COVID-19 test and wait for results at home. Other members who work at the same location have also been arranged to take the test accordingly.

AWE has strictly adhered to the instructions and guidelines from health and safety professionals and issued stringent guidelines for contractors to ensure the public health safety at the venue. AWE also immediately conducted thorough cleaning and disinfection for the work site, staff canteen as well as the public circulation areas, and will assist Centre for Health Protection in contact tracing. The case does not cause any impact to the venue operation, business is as usual at AWE.
