Director of Business Development

Responsibilities:
  • Supervises one of the Business Development team including Senior Business Development Managers/Business Development Managers and other members
  • Develop and implement strategies/plans/ actions in ensuring the Business Development team delivers on the sales target, other KPI targets and long-term development
  • Management venue booking of the team to maximize the venue booking efficiency and profit
  • Establish and maintain good relationship with clients and relevant parties to develop a sustainable network of customer base or source market intelligence in order to achieve business objectives
  • Fully support and take responsibility in revenue initiatives, added-value services, sales operation improvement and any other business development projects
  • Works closely with other departments in providing effective multidisciplinary services to client
  • Continuous review of the clients’ engagement process by identifying gaps and or sources of issues and implement measures/mechanism for improving the conversion
  • Playing an active role on cross team & company development projects as assigned by Chief Strategy Officer
  • Planning and prioritizing resources and work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Develop staff talents and ensures that sub-ordinate clearly knows expectation on his roles and accountability, performance targets and measurement
  • Develop a strong team culture that facilitates collaboration, convergent thinking, design thinking, innovation, complex problem solving and decision making on execution and risk management
  • Act as role model of the Business Development team and develop competencies of individual team members in such key areas as convergent thinking, service leadership, performance management and delivery, continuous improvement, and appraisal as a foundation for excellent organizational performance
  • Perform any ad hoc assignments as required
 
Requirements:
  • Degree holder in Business or Marketing Disciplines with demonstrated academic excellence; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of sales and business management, of which 5 years must be in a direct supervisory role
  • Familiar with International MICE sectors as well as the business trends
  • Authentic leadership with self-motivation, practices transparency, acts as a change agent in the change management process
  • An effective communicator who advocates two-way communication, patience in handling controversies, able to anticipates and monitors reactions/feed-back of the recipient, good at managing stakeholders’ expectation and achieved successes in getting their buy-in
  • Innovative in problem solving, solution design.  Able to master the innovation process to ensure cross enterprise collaboration, facilitate collaboration by prescribed teams as well as ad hoc supporting teams
  • Excellent in problem Solving & Decision-Making skill. Able to define the problems, identify the causal relationships among issues, and critically analyze issues, problems, opportunities, and consequences of a decision option. Be confident in making timely decisions to solve ad-hoc / urgent problems with justifications
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; fluency in Putonghua
