AsiaWorld-Expo appoints industry veteran Peter Sutton as Chief Operating Officer
AsiaWorld-Expo, the new exhibition and event venue at Hong Kong International Airport, today announces the appointment of Mr Peter Sutton as Chief Operating Officer.
Mr Sutton's solid and vast experience spans across the exhibition and event industries. As a qualified engineer, Mr Sutton held various senior management positions at the NEC Group, Birmingham, the operator of the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Britain's biggest and Europe's busiest exhibition centre. He was responsible for the full operational management of services relating to the successful delivery of all major exhibitions, conferences and concerts, including the ITMA 2003 held in October last year. The textile machinery exhibition, ITMA 2003, was the largest single sector trade show in the world as well as the biggest international showcase ever staged in the UK. The eight-day show attracted over 125,000 visitors and around 20,000 exhibiting staff and contractors from more than 140 different countries.
In his new position, Mr Sutton will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of AsiaWorld-Expo, which is scheduled to open in December 2005 and will provide over 70,000 square metres of rentable area, including 10 column-free exhibition halls and a 13,500-seated Arena. He will also oversee the operation of various departments including technical support, catering and security.

Prior to joining AsiaWorld-Expo, Mr Sutton was the Head of Operations at one of the UK's top Premier League Football Clubs, managing all the operational business units.
