Landmark exhibition ends on a high note after record-breaking ticket sales

“Animated version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” Exhibition welcomed over 900,000 visitors

ASIAWORLD-EXPO, ASIA’S LEADING EXHIBITION, CONVENTION AND EVENTS VENUE, TODAY CONCLUDED THE HIGH-PROFILE “RIVER OF WISDOM – ANIMATED VERSION OF THE RIVERSIDE SCENE AT QING MING FESTIVAL” EXHIBITION. THIS HUGELY SUCCESSFUL EVENT WELCOMED OVER 900,000 VISITORS IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS – EQUIVALENT TO ONE-SEVENTH OF HONG KONG’S TOTAL POPULATION – AND SMASHED HONG KONG’S RECORD FOR TICKET SALES AT A SINGLE EVENT OR EXHIBITION.

Featuring a one-of-a-kind, digitized, enlarged version of a 12th Century scroll painting, this unique exhibition was an educational, enlightening and inspirational experience for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Concurrently hosted with the “River of Wisdom – Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” Exhibition, a stunning line-up of public shows, including AsiaWorld-Expo Open House, Hong Kong Ani-Com Carnival, Gratitude for Hong Kong – Gratitude Fingerprint Mosaic, Love & Care – Hong Kong Council of Social Service, New Gallery on Old Bailey, Put yourself on the front line with the MSF Truck Exhibition - "Living in Conflict", and Richburg car show was welcomed by the public.

“We are extremely pleased that AsiaWorld-Expo has played host to such an important exhibition, setting a new record for event attendance in Hong Kong,” remarked Mr. Allen Ha, Chief Executive Officer, AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited. “I would like to thank the Hong Kong SAR Government, especially the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and everyone here, including all members of our staff and student interns, for the role they played in making this event such a success. The remarkable number of visitors to this event means AsiaWorld-Expo will welcome over 3.2 million visitors in 2010 alone. This is a tremendous achievement both for the venue and Hong Kong.”

A new arena for world-class entertainment
The exhibition coincided with the launch of new and enhanced transportation links between AsiaWorld-Expo and many districts across Hong Kong. These new arrangements – namely a direct service to AsiaWorld-Expo on all “A-route” Airport Buses, a new express bus service (X1 Route) from Tung Chung MTR Station, and special fares on the Airport Express – have won a thumbs up from the public. These enhanced transportation links will be made available on a permanent basis for all forthcoming public shows and concerts, ensuring it’s never been easier to enjoy the wealth of world-class entertainment that can be found at AsiaWorld-Expo.

“These new transport links have not only drawn a huge number of visitors to AsiaWorld-Expo, but have also attracted the interest of large-scale public shows and internationally renowned mega stars,” added Mr. Allen Ha, Chief Executive Officer, AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited.

A highlight of the coming months is Walking with Dinosaurs, a jaw-dropping theatrical experience that will take audiences back to the time of Tyrannosaurus-rex. In response to overwhelming demand for this remarkable show, four additional dates have recently been announced.

Also coming soon to AsiaWorld-Expo are highly anticipated concerts by international stars Luna Sea, The Wonder Girls, Eric Clapton, and Taylor Swift, to name just a few.
