Cleaning Contractor at AsiaWorld-Expo Temporary Quarantine Centre for Residents of Residential Care Homes for the Elderly confirmed COVID-19 infection

Work areas fully cleaned and sanitised

(22 January 2021 – Hong Kong) AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) has been notified that a cleaning contractor who worked in Temporary Quarantine Centre for Residents of Residential Care Homes for the Elderly was tested positive for COVID-19. The concerned cleaning staff last reported duty on 21 January. The staff had worn surgical mask during work and with no direct contact with the mass public. The staff’s working area does not cover Community Treatment Facility and other facilities at AWE.
 
AWE has strictly adhered to the instructions and guidelines from health and safety professionals and issued stringent guidelines for contractors to ensure public health and safety at the venue. Frontline staff also received infection control training once on board. AWE has immediately conducted thorough cleaning and disinfection for the work site, staff canteen as well as the public circulation areas, and will assist Centre for Health Protection in contact tracing. The case does not cause any impact to the venue operation, business is as usual at AWE.
