The Hong Kong International Pet Accessory & Service Expo 2006 and Hong Kong International Aqua Accessory & Service Expo 2006 were held at AsiaWorld-Expo from 28 to 30 July, 2006. The largest pet and aqua carnival in Hong Kong, the expos attracted over 200 exhibitors from Hong Kong, mainland China, Japan, Taiwan and other countries. Visitor attendance for the three-day event topped 50,000, with Hong Kong visitors bringing along their pets to explore the show and to make new friends. They arrived in various transportation means including MTR/Airport Express, buses, and organiser's shuttle buses departing for AsiaWorld-Expo from Mongkok in Kowloon, Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island and Shatin, Tung Chung in the New Territories. The local support for the expos was so tremendous that crowd control measures were required to be put in place in the afternoon of 30 July, 2006.
Exhibitors rated the expos a success and cited factors such as a strong promotional campaign that encompasses a multi media approach including television, newspapers, magazines, radio and railways networks, as well as the complimentary shuttle bus service that contributed to it. The number of buyers from South East Asia and Hong Kong citizens visiting the expos grew day after day and exceeded exhibitors' expectations. Total sales generated were a few times over their forecasts and all merchandise was sold out. They were very satisfied with the results and believe that the expos will be even more successful next year.
Pet Accessories and Services
With the theme of the pet expo focusing on clothing, food, shelter, health and lifestyle, there were plenty of pet and aqua accessories and services to choose from. Merchandise making their debut at this show included health foods, air-conditioned luxury kennels, air purifiers, multi-purpose fish tanks and a variety of trendy pet foods, insurance packages, and photographic equipment and much more.
Paper Communication Exhibition Services, organiser of the event, set up a lucky draw station where over HK$300,000 worth of prizes were given away to visitors. Other goodies included mobile phone straps in the shape of "safety bags" with a photo of the owner and pet printed on the bag as a memento of the event.
The programme for the three-day event was packed with activities held at the stage and "Dog Park" to keep visitors and their pets entertained. These activities ranged from seminars and games to competitions and demonstrations on wide-ranging topics that mesmerise the audience.
The successful staging of the Hong Kong International Pet Accessory & Service Expo 2006 and Hong Kong International Aqua Accessory & Service Expo 2006 has proved that AsiaWorld-Expo has what it takes to host exhibitions for both the trade and the public.
